Team Building & Cultural Change

Developing and Embedding Vision, Values and Mission Statements.

We will facilitate a discussion about the teams Vision, Values and Mission Statement – and how this links into group or parent company V, V & M if relevant. This should cover not only what you think that these elements should be – but how you intend to make them personal, live your values and become a good champion and ambassador for them with your relative workforces.

What sort of senior team do you want to be? What is your culture? What does that look and feel like? What does it mean to be in your team?

For many delegates the biggest issue with these topics is finding links between what is discussed in a meeting or printed on a statement and how people choose to behave in reality. This work will run throughout the event, ensuring that delegates are able to work practically with the ideas and that they link with psychometrics (if used) as ways to understand individual motivations. We will engage your delegates to discuss both what these elements should be for your team but also explore what that means for them both individually and as a group.

Steve and Bob. Two “team members” who missed some of the point of the team manager’s key message and are discussing it and not living the values …the team are able to interrupt and correct and challenge them. This process leads to better understanding of the messages, and delegates make their own arguments in favour of the content. Steve and Bob will use “in jokes” and the key points of your values to question and challenge them …this leads to colleagues arguing in favour of the points. It’s funny, engaging and a great way to embed change.

This process is also used to help pre – teach and consolidate learning and understanding from psychometrics, if we use them with your team, since the characters in the case study will also be displaying certain traits and characteristics.

Titanic in Two Minutes... A brief example of a “big idea” delivered in a short time. Simply put – our team performs a live version of the film “Titanic” in just two minutes, as an example of taking the key points that make something understandable. Delegates are given some scripts and storylines from well known major movies and told to bring them to life. They are helped with this task by our team. As they work on the task, they also need to find a way to embed the key values into the story. This tends to be a very funny and enjoyable way of working together to create a memorable set of values. Delegates find themselves working against the clock to create a performance. This is energetic, engaging and a great way to develop a team.

Cultural Change

Developing your “brand” of leadership.

We will support you in creating a “leadership standard” for your senior team, encapsulating your new values but also translating these into behaviours. We will explore how this might helpfully be cascaded down through your teams. When you have defined your new leadership standards, this could form the basis for a middle or senior management development programme – if that is required.


Developing a High Performing Team – utilising Psychometrics

We often use the MBTI psychometric in training sessions and we will either deliver this for you, or if you prefer work with one of your colleagues to do so. We will work with your teams to discuss the results on both an individual and collective level so that your team can better understand themselves and their colleagues and the best ways to work together as a high performing team.

We will run the initial MBTI session early, and then refer to it throughout the session to allow delegates to refer to what they learnt, and crucially to start using the key lessons within in in a real context.

A discussion about the next 12 months – what are your challenges? Your triumphs? What do you need to plan for? To celebrate? What worries do you have and how can you work together to overcome challenges? We will facilitate an open and honest discussion to help your teams to explore these subjects and develop a bespoke people plan for your area – perhaps utilising your recent Employee Survey results.

Customer Service

Developing a Customer Service Excellence Charter.

How do you want to appear to your clients and what is your ‘Customer Service Excellence’ standard going to look like and really mean in practice? We will explore your interactions with your key customers and discuss your brand, your image and some NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques to get a better result out of your customer engagement “touch points”. We can help you to develop this into a bespoke Customer Service Charter.

Our specialist Blue Beetle approach to each of these areas is to utilise live forum theatre and Case Study. In forum we will play out a scene in front of your delegates showing the key topic under discussion but showing some poor practice. The scene will be written bespoke for your team and will “look and feel” appropriate to the audience. The delegates are invited to watch the scene, then question our actor / facilitators and then re – run the action to get a better outcome. This is hugely engaging and much more memorable that a traditional “chalk and talk” approach. We also utilise one to one work to engage individual delegates and present them with a “as close to real” experience as possible – for example actually having that difficult conversation with an employee.

We can offer the following support:

  • A half or full day, interactive training session to upscale your line managers in utilising informal coaching, mentoring and “buddying” in their day to day support of their teams and colleagues. This will accommodate up to 16 delegates and be delivered by a team of three Blue Beetle Facilitators.
  • A two day training session for your managers – accredited to ILM level 3 or 5 (depending on your requirements) to “qualify” your delegates to act as internal “coaches” for their colleagues. The session will be interactive with plenty of opportunity for “hands on” coaching practice in our live case studies.
  • A cache of external, highly experienced and qualified coaches who you may wish to utilise from time to time for external support for your senior team.

 

We use the TGROW model of coaching in our sessions and again use our live case study approach to embed learning via forum and one to one elements.
